Still life photography is the depiction of inanimate subjects or a group of objects which are either natural or man-made, via the means of a photograph.


Still life photography is demanding art, one in which the photographers are expected to be able to form their work with a refined sense of lighting, coupled with compositional skills. It is the skill that" makes pictures rather than takes them".

It is a highly appreciated art form, wherein each photographer has certain style.

The idea is to convey a 'story' with the means of a photograph.The picture has to communicate with the viewer on a very yet sensory level. It has to appeal to the different sensibilities of the viewer.

Still life photography always experiments in various field.

Still life photographers use natural light as far as possible because natural light gives a special glow and effect to the composition. It often also use a sheet of white paper on the side opposite to the light source to reflect some light into the shadowed areas.

Still-life photography demands a great deal of care and imagination.The rewards for a good still-life photographer can be enormous.

There are many ways to approach still-life photography - the best and most used by professional photographers is to spend days in a studio, arranging and rearranging the set up until they get it perfect. This is what it takes to create perfect still-life portraits. With practice and a great deal of patience you will find your own unique way.

The effort seems extreme but still-life photography requires a great deal of patience and practice. Trial and error will play an important part in developing a new skill.
